calming yet driving in parts

is that the ocean at the beginning? :D

I like that little break before the drums and guitar kick in. maybe a little more bass, but that's a minor problem. I guess since it's ambient... yea. I'm really liking your music. Hit me back sometime.

this is amazing

reminds me of Pirates of the Carribean in a way... I like the use of the snare. Oh man. I gotta download this. You are very very awesome.

DavidOrr responds:

The reason it is in 5/4 is because I originally had it in 4/4, and the melody resembled Pirates pretty closely. With a few melodic meodifications and the change in time signature, it still has the same feel of Pirates, but has a different sound. Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the review!

:D

nice job, both of you! Cerrax, what did you use for the strings? I'm kinda tired of my cadenza soundfont :P

orolo responds:

I believe Cerrax uses EWQLSO Silver.

sw00ty!

Nice beginning, you should have used the theme all through the song, though. The chorus thing you break into for a measure or so is a nice touch. The bassline progression was really cool and original. It's a bit short, but I guess it's up to you for that. :) I really like your samples that you use. Where do you get them? hit me back.

PERVOK responds:

Where Ig et my samples? I make them :)

nice!

wow, I really like this! You really have an awesome bassline going in the background! The drums were very generic, and the samples aren't anything that I would call perfect, but the rest of the song makes up for that. The trumpet fanfare thing you have going impresses me more with the rhythm that you made them play than the actual melody. The solo near the end with the marimba/chime instrument (you'll have to tell me what that is :P) is good until the notes conflict, mostly by being a half step apart. Don't get me wrong, though. This is a really good piece. Keep up the great work!

DavidOrr responds:

Hahaha this was all made when I was still using my old S03 keyboard.

The marimba solo was using a blues scale, so it's going to create some tension. It may not have been the best choice of scale, though.

Anyway thanks for the review!

:D

Hey dude, I can hear the midi in this pretty well. If you want me to add some stuff in FL studio, I can make it sound a lot more realistic. Just send me the file and I can work with it. I really like this song, I like those triplet like notes at the end. The tune is great, Its just the sound quality that bugs me. Anyway, I liked it. Keep up the great work. If you want to hear a sample of what the guitar, drums and bass will sound like, drop by my audio portal and listen to 'Run For the Hills.' I'm trying out a bit of metal myself. ;) Keep up the great work!

good hearing. this is a midi which i edited and converted to mp3.
i would really like if you would make a better version, as long as i get credit for it.
i'll contact you.

Good job!

Very nice. I like that arpeggio thing at the beginning.. well, not an arpeggio, but you know what I mean. The beat with the bass was good too, maybe add an open hi-hat on the offbeat and its even better. Nice job. Keep up the good work!

lol okokok..

I really like that panning warpy synth thing you have in the background. The whole song sounds really abstract and original, I'm constantly surprised with those unique sounds you have thrown in there, it makes a really cool mood. I'm really liking this one, the strings add just the right touch to fill it all in. By any chance, was there a telephone ring in beginning? :P The beat was cool too, I always enjoy that 'crunchy' snare that you use in your breakbeat style d'n'b tracks. A 5 and a download for you, mister weekly-top-5-fancy-pants. :P

hit me up anytime you want to do a collab, I'm ready whenever you're up to it.

later ;)

dj-padman1 responds:

Top 5, it is just luck, (combined with a bit of voodoo on the side) :P
Thanks for the extensive review, you've made my day. It means a lot coming from you.
You're dead right, there was a sound similar to a telephone to start with, square synth with a square lfo on pitch I think.
About the collab, definitely, we must do that sometime. Warning : I'm crap with FL Studio, but we'll give it a go soon. ;)

garrr

You two are amazing. I love that distorted synth at the beginning :D When it hits in with the lead, it shows how much you really know what you're doing. The song itself was full of energy and power. Nice job guys :D
