OOOOOH! yay

I love this song. I have a few comments though... That hi-hat is really annoying, and sounds really fuzzy. The guitars could have been a bit louder, but w/e. That solo was pretty sick though. :D Your vocals were really awesome, too. If you ever need help with mixing/mastering, just give me a pm.

You two have some serious talent. :D :D

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks man, I just may take you up on that.
You probably would have a few more gripes had I actually done the music. haha. Thanks for the review, and support man!\m/

lol VEC, right?

Nice job on this track. You stopped submitting right about as I signed up... You were a big inspiration to my early tracks, unfortunately I could never get the same sound. :(

But yea, nice siren effects and all. It reminds me a bit of that song "Twilight Zone".... you might have heard of it before.

The synths were really good as well as the drums, but I thought that the reverb sweep was kinda akward... The acid synth was crazy, though. :P

Hmm... well nice job I must say. :) Check out my newer tracks if you ever get a chance.

Peace

Draze responds:

Twilight zone? Haha i faintly remember that, can't say i remember the song though. All i remember is some guy moaning about how mysterious and interesting the twilight zone was.

Thx for the review man, i've checked you out and reviewed some stuff.

hehe

whoops. on my review for "Make it Rain" I asked you what you used for your samples, only to scroll down and find out that you had answered the same question twice already. XD

So I guess you just use Edirol very well, because I can't seem to get the same power out of it as you can.

So, while I'm at it, I'll just review this song.

It starts off with nice simplistic piano melody, a very intimate sounding start. I love the second fade in to the strings, of course I always love the strings. ;)

I like your repetition of the main theme throughout, you don't seem to branch out too much of the setting, but you act creatively inside your boundaries.

Is this in 3/4? It seems different in sorts. I'm just wondering.

Overall another great one. :D Personally I like "Make it Rain" the best, but that would be like comparing...

well something very good and something just a bit better than that. I suck at metaphors. XD

Keep it up the awesome work!

wow... very moving

This is a very well composed piece. I thought that the instrument choices were very well selected for the setting. I love the piano, I'm guessing it signifies rain drops?

The mastering in my opinion was fine, although I would have leveled out the strings a bit more. Of course that's just my style, and I don't go for the most realistic thing always.

Oooh is a harp playing with the piano too? It could just be my imagination, but again, nice selection of instruments. ;)

What do you use for your orchestral sounds? I'm looking around for something nice and reasonable, currently I have Edirol Orchestral, but that doesn't supply me with any choral samples or sound shaping.

Excellent work, man. I'm sure you'll make it big one day. :)

P.S. Could you check out my new song "I Don't Need You Anymore?" I'd love to hear your opinion on it, it's some of the best work of mine.

Setu-Firestorm responds:

That's really interesting. You read exactly what I was intending through the piece.

Edirol Orchestral doesn't have any choral stuff unfortunately, and I stress yet. I'm hoping I'll be able to get my hands on a VSTi that handles that sort of thing. I already know of EastWest's Symphonic Choirs, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to get it.

hmm

nice little square synth there. I like the reverb on it as well as the piano. You probably should level things out a bit more though, that big synth that comes in later drowns out everything including the drums.

The sub-bass in really loud... throw a filter or take out the mids and the highs on it. You have to feel the sub bass more than hear it.

I really liked the melodies though, you did a nice job on that. The drums were really good too, you added in a couple new samples that I liked, especially that open hi-hat. It sounded like it was reversed though. Not like that's bad, I just wouldn't have expected it.

Overall, very good job. Just work on mastering and all that fun stuff. ;)

Keep up the good work!

whee

nice little tune there... I like the beginning, but I'm not sure it blended too well with the 3-stepish drum pattern that it trancended into. The piano was pretty cool though.

Nice melodies halfway through, that's a nifty synth as well. :) I just love the ethnic sounds. This reminds me a bit of XI's goa trance. If you haven't checked him out already, I'd highly recommend it.

This track isn't that diverse or completely clear, but I do think that you got very creative. :) You seemed to put in a fair amount of effort as well.

Keep up the good work!

Jiao-Zhang responds:

Yeah, I've checked out his stuff before. And yes, it did take me hard to make it of all the bad CPU damage in the song x_x Oh well. Thanks for the review. I'll check yours in a sec.

YAY!

Sorry it took so long to respond. :/ I've just been really busy the past few days.

I like that new melody in the buildup. :) Really nice job with the drums, although I would have upped the presence on that clap. Other than that it was awesome. ;)

The synths were really cool, did you use Vanguard? I recognize that bass. I used it a lot it my older songs; I'm quite fond of it.

And kudos for adding in the scratch. That was one of the high parts in the original version, IMO. The 'bass' vocal was nifty, too. I'm glad you took a bit of your own direction rather than just changing up the synth sounds and drums.

I'm really honored that you would pick one of my songs to remix, and Paranorma was kinda like a landmark track to me. Thanks a bunch man, it means a lot. :D

Keep it up!
~cornandbeans

k-m-g responds:

No worries man. I didn't want the claps to overpower the kicks and the bass so I made it so it's to a point where you can clearly hear it but it's kinda on its own. Yes, I used vanguard but the bass actually wasn't from vanguard. Yeah, I deliberately made room for the scratch for a kind of way to know it was the remix of it. Your very welcome for everything but really it's you I should be thanking for composing an awesome track.

EXCELLENT work ;)

I love the piano at the beginning. Even if it isn't your own beat, you certainly have good taste. ;) Nice lyrics too, It's hard to find good lyrcal work on NG. Although this is a only a suggestion, try putting effects on your voice. Stuff like chorus and delay, like when you want to emphasize certain parts of the song.

You've got a lot of talent though, keep it up!

P.S. I just released a new track today called 'I Don't Need You Anymore.' I'd love to hear your opinion, I've worked really hard on it.

Greeksta-69 responds:

thanks man there was actually 2 people on this track my friend and myself i will try your suggestions its kinda hard for me caus ei have to add that stuff and blend it with the beat but this isint the final version thanks .

interesting...

I really can't make out too much, you've masked it up pretty well. It's really evil sounding. ;P

I like the pads/choir sounds in there. It lightens the mood for a bit, then there's some nice short synth stuff afterwards. You layered this one nicely, and the stereo effects were crazy.

It really feels like someone is messing inside my head. :S

I don't think the majoraty of people would like this, but I sure did. You'd be a popular musician amongst the aliens. :P

keep it up!
~cornandbeans

dj-padman1 responds:

Well, I AM an alien you know.

Its just messing around. I'm glad a few people liked it. It's not exactly something that would appeal to most, but I like to go 'off the beaten track' once in a while!

Catch ya mate.

w00t :D

I really like those vocals. :) The piano sounded pretty good, it's just I would have expected a more structured melody. It's fine though, I shouldn't complain.

The acid synths thrown in there were really cool. :) I have trouble mixing those it a lot of times when making trance. :/ The strings were a nice touch in the middle. It shows off a more complex style in your music. ;)

There seems to be a lot going on at once, that's something that I try to keep myself from doing. You need to keep the listener focused on one thing at a time, while keeping the groove. You can also get a longer song length that way; just strech things out a bit more. Maybe add more transitions, ins and outs with filters, that sort of thing.

I do like the panning as well. ;) Nice job on that too. Overall a pretty good song, I'd just work on making things a bit more straightforward. Of it's only my suggestion, and I don't want you to change too much. I really like your usual styles. :)

Keep it up! I'm glad to hear more from you these days. :)

dj-padman1 responds:

some customarily good advice from you c'n'b. I appreciate the time you've spent giving me those pointers. Its good stuff! ;)
